Terms of service
Tech Toppers — Terms of Service
Last updated: 21 September 2026
These terms apply to everything you buy from techtoppers.co.uk and to your use of the Tech Toppers design editor at editor.techtoppers.co.uk. Please read them before you order. They are written to be read, not to be impressive.
1. About us and how to contact us
Tech Toppers is the trading name of TECH TOPPERS LTD, a company registered in England and Wales with company number 15771220. Our registered office is The View, 38 Halifax Road, Grenoside, Sheffield, England, S35 8PB. We are not currently registered for VAT.
Contact us: contact@techtoppers.co.uk or through the contact page on our website.
How we contact you: using the email address or phone number you gave us when you ordered. If we need to contact you about an order, we will use those details.
2. These terms
2.1 These terms are for consumers — that is, individuals buying for personal use. If you are buying for a business, the Trade & Corporate Terms apply instead of sections 7, 8, 17 and 20, and you confirm that you are not acting as a consumer.
2.2 You must be 18 or over to order from us or to create an account on the editor.
2.3 These documents together form your contract with us:
these Terms of Service;
the Design & Content Policy (what you may upload and share);
the Marketing & Image Use policy (what we may do with your designs and photos — only with your consent);
the Colour Accuracy & Printing policy (what you can expect from print, and what we will do if we miss it);
the Refund & Cancellation Policy;
our Privacy Policy.
If any of them conflict, the order of precedence is: these Terms, then the specific policy, then the Refund & Cancellation Policy.
2.4 By placing an order, or by using the editor, you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, please do not order or use the editor.
2.5 We may change these terms. If we make a material change we will tell you before it takes effect, by email or by a clear notice on the website. Changes never affect an order you have already placed, and if you do not accept a material change you may cancel any order that has not yet been dispatched, or close your editor account.
2.6 Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or any other law. Where a clause of ours would reduce those rights, that clause does not apply and the law applies instead.
3. The editor and your account
3.1 The editor is free to use. You can design, save and share keycap and mouse mat designs.
3.2 To save or share designs you need an account. You must give accurate details, keep your password secure, and tell us promptly if you think someone else has access to your account. You are responsible for activity on your account.
3.3 You must not use the editor to break the law, to infringe anyone's rights, or to upload anything covered by the restrictions in the Design & Content Policy.
3.4 We may suspend or close an account, or remove content, if you seriously or repeatedly breach these terms, the Design & Content Policy, or the law. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond. If we close your account without cause, we will refund any order not yet produced.
3.5 We own the editor itself — the software, the layouts, the templates, the colour and design system, the site and our photography. Using the editor gives you a licence to use it for its intended purpose. It does not give you ownership of any of it, and you must not copy, reverse-engineer, resell or redistribute it.
3.6 We may change, add or remove editor features. We may need to take the editor offline for maintenance. We do not guarantee that it will always be available, but we will not remove a feature you have paid for without offering you a refund or an alternative.
3.7 Your designs and storage. Designs you create are yours (see section 11). We store them so you can come back to them, and so we can produce your orders.
We keep saved designs for as long as your account is active. You can delete any design at any time, and you can download it as a PNG first.
If you close your account, we delete your saved designs.
If an account is inactive for 24 months, we will email you and then delete the saved designs if we do not hear back.
Where we need to keep something — for tax, accounting, or an ongoing dispute — we keep it only for as long as that need lasts.
Please keep your own copy of anything you would be upset to lose. The PNG download exists for exactly that.
3.8 Designs saved without an account. If you save a design without creating an account, we hold it in our database and give you a link. We cannot restore a lost link, delete that design on your behalf, or attach credit to you, because we have no way of knowing the design is yours.
4. Ordering
4.1 Your order is an offer to buy. A contract is formed when we accept it — we do this by sending you an order confirmation email, or by starting production, whichever happens first.
4.2 We may decline an order if: the design breaches the Design & Content Policy; the item is out of stock; there is an error in the price or description; we cannot take payment; we suspect fraud; or the order duplicates another. If we decline after taking payment, we refund you in full.
4.3 Please check your order carefully before you confirm it — especially the layout, the design, the spelling of any text, and the delivery address. You can correct mistakes before production starts; after that, see section 8.
4.4 Where a price or description was clearly wrong (for example a £79.95 keycap set listed at £7.95), we may cancel the order and refund you in full rather than honour the error. We will always tell you before doing this.
5. Prices and payment
5.1 Prices are in pounds sterling (GBP) and include all applicable taxes. We are not currently VAT registered, so no VAT is added.
5.2 The price you pay is the price shown when you place your order. We do not change the price of an order after it is placed.
5.3 We may change our prices and our product range at any time, but not for orders already placed.
5.4 Payment is taken at checkout by the methods shown. If a payment fails or is reversed, we may suspend production.
5.5 If we become VAT registered, prices will be shown inclusive of VAT and these terms will be updated.
6. Delivery
6.1 We deliver within the UK and internationally. Delivery options, estimated timescales and costs are shown at checkout and in our Shipping Policy.
6.2 Unless we agree a different date with you, we deliver within 30 days of the contract being formed. If we miss that, you may treat the contract as at an end and get a full refund if the delay is more than a reasonable additional period we agreed with you.
6.3 Timescales are estimates, not guarantees. Production times vary with design complexity and order volume. We will keep you informed of any significant delay.
6.4 Risk and ownership. The goods are your responsibility from the moment they are delivered to you or to someone you nominated. Ownership passes to you when we have received payment in full.
6.5 International orders. If you are outside the UK, you are responsible for any import duties or taxes charged by your country. These are not included in our prices and we cannot predict them. If you refuse a delivery to avoid duties, we may not be able to refund the original shipping cost.
6.6 Events outside our control. We are not liable for delays or failures caused by things outside our reasonable control — including courier or postal disruption, customs delays, extreme weather, power or internet failure, or industrial action. If such an event delays your order significantly, we will tell you and you may cancel any undelivered part for a full refund.
7. Your right to cancel (14-day cancellation right)
7.1 If you are a consumer in the UK or the EU, you have the right to cancel a distance contract within 14 days of receiving the goods, for any reason, without giving a reason.
7.2 How to cancel. Email contact@techtoppers.co.uk or use the contact page, with your order number and a clear statement that you are cancelling. You may use the model cancellation form at the end of this document, but you do not have to. Send your goods back within 14 days of telling us. We refund the price you paid plus the standard delivery cost, within 14 days of your cancellation (or of receiving the goods back, if later).
7.3 You are responsible for the cost of returning goods unless they are faulty or we sent the wrong item. Please keep proof of postage. We may reduce your refund if the goods have been handled more than necessary to inspect them — but not if you only opened the packaging to look at them.
7.4 Personalised items are excluded from this right. The law removes the 14-day cancellation right for goods made to your specification or clearly personalised, because we cannot resell an item printed with your design. This applies to anything you create or customise in the Tech Toppers editor — keycaps, keycap sets, keyboards and mouse mats printed with your own design, text, name, logo, or colours you have chosen.
7.5 Stock items keep the full 14-day right. This applies to switches, cables, artisan keycaps, keyboard kits, accessories, and anything else we hold as stock, or that you buy with no customisation beyond a default option.
7.6 Where a product is genuinely borderline — printed to order, but only from options we offer as standard — we treat it as stock and honour the 14-day right rather than argue the point. We would rather take the return than the complaint.
7.7 If we fail to give you the information about your cancellation right that the law requires, your cancellation period is extended — by up to 12 months.
7.8 The cancellation right in this section is separate from your rights if goods are faulty or not as described, which are set out in section 8 and never excluded.
8. Faulty goods, returns and refunds
8.1 Goods must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. That is your legal right and we cannot and do not exclude it.
8.2 Short-term right to reject. If goods are faulty, damaged or not as described, you have 30 days from delivery to reject them and get a full refund. You do not have to accept a repair or replacement instead.
8.3 After 30 days. If a fault appears after 30 days, you are entitled to a repair or a replacement. If that is impossible or fails, you are entitled to a price reduction, and in some cases to a final right to reject and get a refund.
8.4 Time limits. In England and Wales you have up to six years to bring a claim about faulty goods; in Scotland, five years. This is a time limit, not a guarantee period, and it does not mean goods must last six years.
8.5 How to tell us. Contact us at contact@techtoppers.co.uk with your order number, a description and photographs. There is no seven-day deadline — the deadlines that apply are the statutory ones in 8.2 to 8.4. If we need the item back, we will tell you how to return it, and we pay return postage where the item is faulty or we made the mistake.
8.6 If a valid claim is made, we will repair, replace or refund. We will not insist you accept a credit note.
8.7 Our Refund & Cancellation Policy gives the practical steps. If it ever appears to conflict with this section, this section prevails.
9. Our products and specifications
9.1 Keycaps, keyboards, switches and cables vary between batches and suppliers. Small differences in shade, texture, moulding marks and legend thickness are normal and are not faults.
9.2 We may add to or withdraw items from our range, and stock availability changes. Where an item becomes unavailable after you order, we will offer you a substitute, a partial refund or a full refund.
9.3 Product photographs are illustrative. Where a product's appearance matters to you, ask us before ordering.
9.4 Where you buy a keyboard we assemble from parts, we may change a part for an equivalent one if the original is unavailable. If that changes anything you would notice, we will ask you first.
10. Colour accuracy and printing
10.1 Dye-sublimation printing does not reproduce colour perfectly, and screens do not show colour accurately. Two screens showing the same file will look different, and neither will match the printed result exactly.
10.2 We handle this by limiting what you can choose. There are three categories of colour, and the Colour Accuracy & Printing policy sets out what each one promises. In summary:
Validated colours. Where you choose a solid colour from our validated palette, colour accuracy is guaranteed. That is the great majority of what we sell.
Approximate colours. Some palette colours we can print but cannot guarantee to match. These are flagged in the editor, and a proof is how you get certainty.
Artwork, images, gradients and transparency. Here we decide what is achievable, using our colour correction process. We tell you before we print, and a proof is available. A print that does not resemble your design, or is defective, is still a fault.
10.3 We offer a printed swatch or proof before production if you want certainty on colour. A swatch shows how colours behave on the material; a proof shows your actual design. Where you approve a proof, your order is matched to it.
10.4 We may make print and legibility corrections without asking first — moving an element that would be cut off or would collide, adding an outline or border so a design reads against its background, or changing a legend colour so it is legible. These are necessary for your design to be printable and readable. We record what we did and tell you about it. Where a change is one you would notice and a usable alternative existed, we ask you first.
10.5 Colour that falls outside what our published standard promises is a fault, and section 8 applies. Colour inside it is not.
11. Designs you upload, save and share
11.1 You keep ownership of your designs. Nothing in these terms transfers ownership of your artwork, text, logos or photographs to us. You grant us the licences set out below, which are limited to what we need.
11.2 The licence we need to make your order. By submitting a design for production, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, adapt (only as needed to print), reproduce and print your design for the purpose of producing, quality-checking and delivering your order, and handling any complaint or return about it. This licence lasts as long as we need it for those purposes and for our legal and accounting records.
11.3 The licence we need to host and share it. If you save a design to your account, we may store and display it back to you. If you share a design by link, you grant us a licence to host, store, display and transmit it to whoever holds that link, and to moderate and remove it. The Design & Content Policy explains exactly how sharing works — including that anyone holding a share link can use your design as a starting point in the editor, but cannot overwrite your original and cannot publish their remix.
11.4 Remixes stay private. If you use someone else's shared design as a starting point, your remix is saved privately to your own account library. Remixes are never published.
11.5 The licence we need to market it is separate, and only applies if you opt in. See the Marketing & Image Use policy. You are never required to agree to it in order to buy from us or to use the editor.
11.6 What you must not put in a design. You must have the right to use everything in your design. You must not use anything that infringes someone else's copyright, trade mark, design right or other rights; anything containing another person's personal information; or anything unlawful, hateful, sexual, harassing or otherwise prohibited by the Design & Content Policy.
11.7 You are responsible for your designs. You are responsible for making sure you have the permissions you need — including from anyone whose logo, artwork or photograph you use, and from any person who appears in an image.
11.8 The public design library is not yet open. At the moment we populate the library ourselves. When we open it to customers, this is how it will work: only designs built from Tech Toppers patterns and icons can be published, nothing containing an uploaded image or artwork can be published, only designs started from scratch can be published (never a remix), and publishing will earn store credit under a separate rewards policy. Nothing in this clause gives you the right to publish today, and we will tell you when it changes.
11.9 Moderation. We may review, refuse, remove or disable any design or shared content at any time if we believe it breaches these terms, the Design & Content Policy or the law. Where we can, we will tell you and give you the chance to fix it.
12. Marketing use of your designs and photographs
12.1 We would like to show off work we are proud of. We will only use your design, your photographs, or images of your finished order for marketing if you have actively opted in — by ticking a box that is empty by default.
12.2 There are two separate opt-ins, and you can give one, both or neither:
at checkout or on upload: whether we may use photographs of your finished order and the order itself in our marketing;
in the editor, when you save or share a design: whether we may feature that design in our marketing.
12.3 We will never use a design for marketing just because you bought something or used the editor.
12.4 You can withdraw either opt-in at any time by contacting us at contact@techtoppers.co.uk, and we will stop using it. We will remove it from channels we control as soon as reasonably practicable. We may not be able to recall printed material already distributed, or posts already shared by others, but we will not use it again.
12.5 We will credit you where we can, using the name or handle you ask us to use. We do not guarantee a particular form of credit, and we do not pay for the use covered by this section.
12.6 Full detail is in the Marketing & Image Use policy.
13. Our intellectual property
13.1 The Tech Toppers name and logo, our website, our photography and product imagery, our written content, and the design editor itself — including its layouts, templates, colour system and code — belong to us or our licensors and are protected by copyright, trade mark and design law.
13.2 You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, resell or use our brand assets or our content for any commercial purpose without our written permission.
13.3 This does not restrict you from:
using the design you created or uploaded, and the products made from it, however you like for your own purposes;
photographing and posting pictures of products you bought from us, including on social media and in reviews;
if you are a business customer, using your own commissioned merchandise, and images of it, in your own marketing;
any use that the law permits, including quotation, review and criticism.
13.4 You must not use our name or logo in a way that suggests we sponsor or endorse you, or that your business is connected with ours, without our written permission.
14. Copyright and trade mark complaints
14.1 We respect other people's intellectual property and expect our customers to do the same. If you believe content on our site or in our design library infringes your rights, tell us and we will act.
14.2 How to report it. Email contact@techtoppers.co.uk with the subject line "Copyright Takedown Request". Include:
who you are, and an email address we can reply to;
a description of the work you say is being infringed, and the rights you hold in it;
the exact URL or location of the content on our site;
a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorised;
a statement that the information you have given is accurate and that you are the rights holder or authorised to act for them.
14.3 We will acknowledge your report, review it, and where it is valid we will remove or disable access to the content, usually within 5 working days. We may also cancel any order connected with it and suspend the account that uploaded it.
14.4 The right of reply. If we remove content you uploaded, we will tell you. If you believe the removal was wrong — for example because you do have permission — you can reply to us with your evidence and we will reconsider. We will not restore content that we believe infringes someone's rights.
14.5 Repeat infringers. We will suspend or close the accounts of users who repeatedly upload infringing content.
14.6 Our position as host. We do not check every design before it is published, and we are not the publisher of designs our users create. The responsibility for a design rests with the person who uploaded it. That said, once we know content is infringing, we remove it.
14.7 Your indemnity. If a claim is made against us because of a design you uploaded or shared — including claims by a rights holder — you agree to cover our reasonable costs of dealing with it, provided that:
we tell you about the claim promptly;
we let you take part in how it is handled, and do not settle it without telling you;
the claim arises from your breach of these terms or the Design & Content Policy, and not from anything we did wrong.
This does not apply to the extent the claim was caused by our own negligence, our own breach of these terms, or our own failure to act on a valid takedown notice. Nothing in this section requires you to pay more than is reasonable, and nothing in it limits your statutory rights as a consumer.
15. Acceptable use
15.1 You must not use our site or the editor to:
break any law, or help anyone else to;
infringe anyone's intellectual property, privacy or other rights;
upload malware, or attempt to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to our systems;
scrape, crawl or bulk-extract our content or other users' designs;
harass, threaten, defame or discriminate against anyone;
impersonate anyone, or misrepresent who you are;
send spam, or collect other people's personal information.
15.2 If you breach this section we may suspend your access and, where appropriate, report the matter.
16. Availability of our website and the editor
16.1 We try to keep the site and the editor running, but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free service. We may need to take them offline for maintenance, updates or security.
16.2 We may change, suspend or withdraw any part of the site or the editor. Where a change affects something you have paid for, we will offer you a refund or an alternative.
16.3 Where we supply digital content for a price, it must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If it is not, you are entitled to a repair or replacement, and if that is not possible or fails, to a price reduction. Nothing in this section affects that.
16.4 Some features rely on third-party services, such as payment providers, hosting and delivery tracking. We are not responsible for those services, but we choose them carefully and will help you if something goes wrong.
17. Our liability to you
17.1 Nothing in these terms limits our liability for:
death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
breach of your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or any other law that cannot be excluded;
anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
17.2 We are responsible for loss you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care and skill. Loss is foreseeable if it is obvious that it would happen, or if we both knew it might when the contract was made.
17.3 We are not liable for loss that is not foreseeable, or for business losses. We supply goods for domestic and private use. If you use them for commercial, business or resale purposes, we are not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, business interruption or loss of business opportunity.
17.4 We are not liable for things outside our control (see section 6.6), or for loss caused by you — including designs that breach the Design & Content Policy, or content you uploaded without the rights to use it.
17.5 Where we are liable for damage to your property, or for goods themselves, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for the affected order, except where the law does not allow that limit.
17.6 Consumers only. For business customers, liability is capped as set out in the Trade & Corporate Terms.
18. Complaints and resolving disputes
18.1 If something has gone wrong, tell us first. Email contact@techtoppers.co.uk with your order number and what you would like us to do. We will acknowledge your complaint within 3 working days and give you a full response within 10 working days. If we need longer, we will tell you why and when to expect an answer.
18.2 We will try to resolve every complaint directly. If we cannot, we will tell you about any certified alternative dispute resolution (ADR) provider we are willing to use. ADR is voluntary and does not affect your right to go to court.
18.3 If you are a consumer in the EU, you also have the protections of the mandatory consumer law of your own country of residence, and you can bring proceedings in your local courts.
18.4 You can also get free advice from Citizens Advice or Trading Standards.
19. Other important terms
19.1 We may transfer this contract to another organisation, but this will not affect your rights and we will tell you.
19.2 You may not transfer your rights under this contract without our agreement in writing.
19.3 Nobody else has rights under this contract. Only you and we can enforce it.
19.4 If a clause is unenforceable, the rest of these terms continue in force.
19.5 If we delay in enforcing a term, that does not mean we have given it up.
19.6 This is the whole agreement between us about the subject matter covered, and replaces anything discussed before. Nothing in this clause removes our liability for anything we said that you relied on when ordering — if we said something that was wrong and you relied on it, you can still rely on it.
19.7 These terms are written in English. If they are translated, the English version prevails.
19.8 Governing law and jurisdiction. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer, you may bring proceedings in the courts of England and Wales or in the courts of the part of the UK, or the EU country, where you live. If you are a business customer, the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
20. Trade and corporate customers
If you are buying for a business — including branded merchandise, event giveaways, bulk orders or anything bought on behalf of a company — the Trade & Corporate Terms apply. They cover quotations, mockups and approvals, your logo and intellectual property, payment terms, liability limits, and the fact that consumer cancellation and returns rights do not apply to business purchases.
